Day Eight: Venice to Assisi to Rome, Italy

Today is mostly about the drive. We cut across the Po Delta, then through the Umbrian hills to Assisi, where St. Francis was born in 1182. We should have visited the Basilica with its 'frescoes by Giotto,' then headed for Rome.
