A(nother) Chalkboard Menu

Monday, April 12, 2010

I mentioned aprons are my gift of choice this year (I've made 6 I haven't posted yet, with a few more planned)...because I'm obsessed with representing my friend's via fabric. The thing is....I'm also planning on adding something else with each of their aprons (different 'things,' but some...'thing'). It's not safe to say what that will be because some of them have this blog address, though I don't know that they check it....it's just a philosophy I'm trying to pick up this year-don't reveal gifts before you've give them. Novel, I know. This little menu board will be added to one of my friend's apron (yes, she has this blog address too, but I know she never checks it-neither does my Mom...borderline child abuse if I ever heard it...). This project wasn't planned (though I loved the first silver (fine, 'pewter' tray chalkboard project, thanks Lori-you created a monster), but then I went to the Dollar Tree and saw this fine little piece of 'silver.' (The good news is I don't think it will tarnish. It has a little metal 'cling' sound to it (so...not plastic), but...it's pretty light, which is great for a little kitchen wall hanging chalk board.)

A dollar. I can do that. Even Dave Ramsey would approve that price. I had the chalk spray paint, the ribbon, the super glue I attached the ribbon with, the chalk, and for a dollar, I now have a menu board she can hang in her kitchen. I'll post it someday with her apron. And by the way....I do have a team that is in charge of quality control with each and every project before it moves to it's new home. Wanna meet my team?...

What a great idea! I'm sure your friend will love the gift (I would!) Do you have a certain apron pattern that you like to use? I've been looking for one, as I'd like to make myself some fun aprons.

I don't use a pattern, just because I avoid patterns as much as possible....they make me nervous, and I always think there are too many steps, so I've just sort of invented my own, that maybe someday I'll jazz up :O). This is the process I've been using: http://christyrobbins.blogspot.com/2010/04/all-wrong-ways-to-make-apron.html

So....I DO check your blog (although this one might not have been checked recently). I LOVE the chalkboard and of course my apron makes me the most envied woman in Clarksville :)
