An Apron-in-a-Can

Friday, June 04, 2010
...at least it's not an apron on-a-stick (refer to every other post to understand THAT comment, though I have another 'stick' idea I'll be trying out sometime in the next month or so).

My co-worker, and friend Heather has a summer birthday. I made this apron for her awhile ago. We both wear a lot of brown and black, and so I knew she'd be OK with a brown birthday theme. I decided to jazz up her delivery with this can. I saved this tin from a Sprinkles cupcake mix b/c I thought it was a great size. I decorated the can using some scrapbook supplies. It was my intention to fill it with cookies to go WITH the apron, but then I found a cupcake I wanted to try I thought she and her family could enjoy (more on that in a day or two)....they were brown, don't worry, I stuck with my brown theme ALL the way through, but they wouldn't have slid down too nicely in this can. I had to use the can NOW though because I had to, it's a clause in my birth certificate, ask my MOM....go ahead, ask her! (She'll agree b/c it's easier to agree than not to....but still, she'll agree.)
....SO, I realized I could slip Heather's apron down inside this can.

Then I packaged up the cupcakes separately.
The end, until I post about the cupcakes...I know, I know....warn you next time I have something so exciting to share on my blog so you can pop popcorn before you begin the reading....look, I like the can, OK? It wanted it's own post.

@ Heidi-you can be my IRL friend anytime! I don't sleep much, so while the rest of the world sleeps, I craft, and I'm always bringing my crap....I mean...my crafts to friends. I'm planning on revamping some things around here around July, and then I'm going to start tossing stuff at people randomly b/c I have boxes....and boxes...and boxes of things in my house I've made just b/c I could....and now it needs a home. ;o)

Such a great idea! I made aprons for my five BBF's for Christmas and I totally wish I would've put them in a can with a snazzy tag!
