Yogurt Bar

This year my school was ranked with the highest ranking once again. This ranking is based off the state TAKS test, and here in the middle of June, with more less than 1/4 of the summer behind me (still, insert crying here) I'm sorta kinda thinking about next year and doing this all over again, and I saw these pictures on my iphone I took at the end of the school year.
At the end of the hard fought battle called state test, we usually celebrate with something fun. This is one of my favorite things to do, so I thought I'd share. The problem is the day we did this, all I had was my iphone to take pictures. Insert more tears here....some of them are due to the fact that a few weeks of my summer is gone already, the rest is due to the lack of a great camera on site to capture this 'project.' We had to rig up a few bowls, and serving platters b/c I just brought some glass vases for the toppings, and my handy scoops. There are a million ways to jazz it up if you aren't serving it in the midst of 475 watching students, and from a cart on wheels.
I should tell you, I'm really obsessed with 'make your own' bars at showers and parties. If you've ever talked showers with me, I've probably told you to do one of these in one way shape or form. I love candy bars, dessert bars, taco bars, omelet bars, pancake bars, hot chocolate bars, mashed potato bars, coffee bars, and yogurt bars....

Yogurt bars are the best thing ever for brunches, AND if you are hosting a shower with a color theme you can dye your yogurt to match the theme with a few drops of food dye, OR you can leave it white, and get sides to match your colors, or cups to match your theme....I usually like to serve the yogurt in fun cups like martini or wine glasses, but since this was a school function....we kept it very G.

Our theme for the year was pink, so we decorated a rolling media cart, and the some of the leadership team members rolled it around to all the classrooms for the teachers to come out and 'make their own' yogurt parfait. I'm not a huge fan of yogurt, but I like it like this, especially Dannon's Vanilla Yogurt. With a pretty small budget in mind I grabbed some mini oreos, chocolate chips, Kashi Go Lean Granola Cereal, strawberries, and bananas for toppings.

Wonderful! Melissa and Ann Marie both did this at showers. My favorite. Like the mini oreo's. So sweet for all the teachers. I feel the stress of taks and I'm not even a teacher.

Ohhh yum! This sounds like a perfect ease back in to the school year idea! I'm totally stealing it! :)
