Chalkboard Wine Glasses...For A Dollar

I've made about 15 different Christmas gifts....today, so I decided to share one. I saw glasses like this at a local home goods store for 5 dollars each. I remembered I have chalkboard paint at home under my pillow (kidding, it's under my bed, under my pillow...and as if I could forget I have a can of chalkboard spray....I'm obsessed)), and a friend these will be perfect for as a Christmas gift. I said I wouldn't post gifts in advance this year, but I guess I'm a liar. I don't think this particular friend checks my blog much if that makes it better, and I'm going to make a basket o' fun to GO with these glasses, but still....it sorta takes the fun out of gifts, but waiting sorta takes the fun out of days that end in y for me, and I won out. Yay for winning.
Let me just say this idea could NOT have been ANY easier, and I think it will be a lot of fun for future parties to write names on the tag for each person's glass....or nicknames and message (knowing this friend's significant other, the guest may not thank me, but he'll get a good laugh out of the messaging). Really, it all comes comes back to me using a little chalkboard paint. By the way, this is the same can-about fifteen projects later. Magic.
Here are my steps....if you can compute long division, and solve quantum physics, you shouldn't have any problem following along. Hardy har har...
1. Purchase wine glasses. They sell them at the dollar store, though you can also get them places like Walmart for about 25 cents more a glass if you like spending more money than you need to on things. And if you do, I've got some dust bunnies, and twigs you can buy. You are about to use a can a spray paint on these guys, and then pass them out to people filled with liquid that inhibits the hand/eye coordination, so the dollar tree was a smart choice in my head.

2. I squared off a rectangle (squared-the verb, not the noun...just wanted to clarify if you like geometry and are disturbed by a squared rectangle) with painter's tape. I then covered the rest of the glass with newspaper. I think they look like little wine glass nuns. That's fine, Catholics drink.

3. Spray (one coat should work, AND it dries sooooo fast, it's definitely a projects for impatient people, should you know any. I don't, I like to wait and really take my time in life (sarcasm-free of charge on my blog), but just in case....) and then you should have something like this...

Time for some wine-tag fun....the more wine consumed, I'm sure the more interesting the tags.
So....for a dollar each, I made 4 glasses for LESS than the price of one at the store. Just two little notes: A. Before writing on these, rub the side of a piece of chalk across the whole chalkboard surface, it makes it easier to write, erase, write erase etc. B. For cleaning-hand wash the glasses, just to be safe.

Now even Target has gotten on to this, they just got some baskets in with chalk painted wood squared wired to the baskets for labeling! Gonna have to try that one too. Thanks for the DIY info!

  57. I really want to thank Dr Emu for saving my marriage. My wife really treated me badly and left home for almost 3 month this got me sick and confused. Then I told my friend about how my wife has changed towards me. Then she told me to contact Dr Emu that he will help me bring back my wife and change her back to a good woman. I never believed in all this but I gave it a try. Dr Emu casted a spell of return of love on her, and my wife came back home for forgiveness and today we are happy again.
