Twilight: A Party You Can See From Space-The Personal Version of a Twilight Party

Alternative Title: We teach the future of America....yes, all of us involved in this little episode/party/summer diversion.
NASA called on Tuesday night b/c they spotted what they suspected might be a comet headed towards my street. I said, no, that's just the bling at my Twilight Party.

Any party that starts with 6 bags of jewels, 3 pounds of rhinestones, four strands of twinkle lights, 72 white crystal swizzles, and a package of glass prism pins should register from space. With lots more unmentioned...
Last fall, Heather convinced me to read the Twilight series. I had NO interest in the books, and only vaguely knew about it. I am NOT into anything dark, and I've never been into Vampires, Wizards, or anything other than fluffy, pink things. I won't even read 'dog books' as a teacher b/c they make me too sad. I had to read an excerpt once from Where the Red Fern Grows, and I cried...in all three classes....and all the boy in the book was doing was going to GET his puppies, but I KNEW what happened.... I'm a Pride and Prejudice/Anne of Green Gables girl all the way, but I read Twilight against my better judgement....and I loved it....and it was a fun way to bond at work b/c there are so many of us in this same boat. In fact....I think there ended up being 20 or 22 tickets bought to attend the film this go round, and a few people that still attended the party for Laine's sake (I'm sure they secretly wanted to join us).

(We couldn't round everyone up at once, there are at least 5 people missing from each picture, but we ALMOST captured everyone from work within these two pics, minus the non-shirt girls...) Blackmail pictures filed away for future opportunities....
We went to the opening of New Moon in the fall with a big group from work....and started planning the summer movie outing..a mere 7 months of planning.
I always love a good party. I like Twilight a lot, it's actually a really cute love story...I know...I know...some of you won't get this, but like I said, I used to be 'you'.....and so throwing my love for themes and parties, along with the need for a little outside work fun with work people, and Laine's (perhaps one of the biggest fans I know) birthday falling on the DAY of the opening, and you've got a great party in the making.
Here are a few personal details...
Taylor, Laine, Heather, and I took the reigns of putting on this little get together with a birthday spin. Laine was in charge of tickets, but we wouldn't let her help with anything else, next time...

We ordered a life size Edward, rolled out the red carpet, and Taylor made a birthday sign, "And how long have you been 17, Laine Cullens...I mean Collins (convenient last name for that joke ;o))," and Stacey brought balloons.....ordered by Edward, of course, but he was busy....what, with opening night and all! Laine came in with the teeth that were attached to the invite....because she's a good sport.

I should also say, there was a handful of people from work that had no idea what was going on, had never seen the movie, will probably never read the books, but were good sports. For isntance, all Terry knew was that they are vampires, and they sparkle. So she bedazzled her own shirt....making a statement about her knowledge...and came, and sparkled more than any of us. How about that make up job with only one good arm?

We ate, had cake....

...took strange pictures (trust me, my camera houses the least strange of some of the pictures taken this evening...I can't wait to see the rest of them).

Packed up some candy for the movie...

And then headed for the midnight show....at 9 o'clock. When Laine picked up our tickets a little before 6 pm, she asked what time we should be back. They told her she shouldn't leave b/c people started lining up AT 10 AM....and some people called US strange.
We had to run through the downpour to the theatre...

The wet wolf pack....

When we got there...I repeat, THREE hours early...our theater was already seating....we did find a random selection of seats within these 6 or 7 rows to the side....

....3 hours of shivering in our wet clothes later...
....and 2 hours after that....no regrets! It was worth every waiting moment. I loved the movie, and have already gone back. ...and I might....or might not have already started planning what I would do, should I choose to do this all over again at the next Twilight movie opening.
...except it hasn't even been made yet, and it's going to be two parts, and I don't know if I can possibly wait that long. I'm so glad there are sights like Tara's Twilight Blog....and friends at work who will probably manage to stay excited for over a year while we wait.
6 Twilight post later, I guess I'm finished....for this week. I have no doubt, this will NOT be the last you hear about Twilight, forgive me in advance.

I love your blog, your party looked so fun...I ventured to do one as well (http://simplywonderfulgirl.blogspot.com/) and we had such a blast. The girls and my inner party planner want to have another and I'll let me secret out of the bag...since Bella and Edward get married in the 4th book, we are thinking of doing a Twilight wedding theme! My brain has already been in mode for the next party at we have 477 days till it comes out....
