Beer Biscuits

With the football season upon the great state of Texas (and I GUESS the other 49 states as well), beer always comes to mind.  Not that I drink it, but there are lots of beer commercials, and it seemed like a good time of year to share this recipe.  Beer is not for me.  I think my potential membership to any future fraternity is still on hold with my lack of beer interest, but the beer guzzling fraternity dream went the way of the buffalo years ago when I A) Was born a girl, and B) Aged past 19. Oh. Well.  I just don't like it.   It has always, and will always remind me of things you'd find in a toilet bowl. That being said... Are you ready to eat?!?!  I do like things COOKED in beer. I can cook a few great dishes with beer, so that should at least allow me access to drive past a fraternity house without too many boos.
These biscuits are tasty. They are best cooled for awhile (about an hour) so that the paper will peel away, and the beer flavor sort of mellows out once things are cooled. Some breads are just like that. I should know. I've spent a lot of time with bread.
The recipe:
Mix 1 1/2 c. bisquick mix, 6 oz. beer, 2 T brown sugar, 1 t. sugar. Fill muffinn cups 1/2 full. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes until lightly browned. Cool completely before eating. Makes about 8 muffins.
And on a related, unrelated note.....if you live in the Dallas area....have you ever been to Barbec's?

It's only open for breakfast and lunch, it's right by the Dallas Arboretum, and they have the most DE-LI-CIOUS beer batter biscuits.....and a really great breakfast. Heather told me about this little place, and I have not forgiven her for passing along the information, though I have put the information to use a few too many times. P.s. They only take cash.

  3. haha. Your posts crack me up! spent a lot of time with bread. Thats so funny! I can't wait to try them.....I feel totally the exact same way about beer as you! Much to the dismay of my hubby. Wine on the other hand.....heheheh.
Also, my brother used to live in Dallas and all I remember about visiting him is the FOOD! Good Lord! You people have some good eats. I compare all other mac and cheese to some I had at a place called "Eatsies" I think that is what it was called. SOOO yummy.
