I saw this idea for turning 'left over' candy corn into fondant here. I never actually met a left over candy corn, but I was willing to buy a package for this experiment.
I popped the whites off my candy corns.
The whites are now in a better place.
I broke up the oranges and yellows.
Next up, squishing. The warmth of your hands and a little pressure should quickly form a 'fondant ball.' Too bad the same can't be said for coal, a little pressure, and diamonds. I covered both sides with wax paper, and rolled out my candy corn fondant with a rolling pin.
I cut out some little leaves with small (pie leaf) cookie cutters. I pealed the excess away before removing the cookie cutters. It's a little sticky, thus, peeling around the cookie cutter kept the shape true to form.
These little leaves would have been super cute on a cupcake, but they disappeared far too quickly. I'll get a detective on the job. In the meantime, I'm loving candy corn fondant!Linking To:

Did the puppies get them? Such a cute idea and I can't believe they melted in your hands.
ReplyDeleteHow cute!
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful idea. I think I'll try them for cupcakes or something. I already have the cutter. Thanks so much for sharing (I agree about the coal thing :)).
ReplyDeleteFound you through another blog about this post. I love it! Great idea. Sounds tasty, too.
ReplyDeleteWow that looks pretty cool! What a great idea.
ReplyDeleteHow stinkin' clever are you??? I'll answer that... TOTALLY! This is so cool!
ReplyDeleteI buy an extra bag for decorating goodies in November, last year they ended up on Turkey cookies. So I think these will be really fun to cut out leaves from and use on top of cookies next month. I'd never seen this idea before. Thanks for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a tasty treat. I will have to try that.
ReplyDeleteHi Christy-
ReplyDeleteThese cookies look so pretty and delicious I want to take a bite out of one right now. I have never worked with fondant, but these are so unique - I may have to try making them. My foodie friends will be so proud of me - using fondant - that is candy corn fondant!
