Ruffled Lace Dress

Saturday, August 18, 2012
I've been reading about little lace rompers for awhile now....and I've been eager to try them out.  I will.  Soon.  It's in the works, but first....I adapted the idea and made a lace dress for my Goddaughter.  An 8 month year old flapper dress?  Clearly her Mom chose well when she picked me...she's one string of pearls away from being banned from daycare, but.....I think she'll look cute.  Here's the deal though....I decided to cheat on part of this project.  I went ahead and bought this dress at Hobby Lobby.  I used a coupons, so it was much cheaper.  It saved me a ton of time, and the cost was the same as buying all the supplies.  I can live with that.
I also found the lace at Hobby Lobby.  They had it on sale half off....which made it a dollar for 9 feet!  I used about 19 feet of lace.....less than three bucks.  I also added a flower I bought with a coupon.  So....the whole thing was well under ten bucks.  Just saying.  It was also easy to put together...
I basically pinned lace, sewed it on using a zig zag stitch (allows more stretch).  I stopped right at the top and added a flower.  It has a pin on the back (it came that way), so it can be taken off for washing.
After quality control approves the dress and headpiece I posted about yesterday....it's off to fill Micah's closet.
