Great advice.....Thanks for looking out for me :O)Christyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10158119775645725096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22368886.post-1157078263498512192006-08-31T21:37:00.000-05:002006-08-31T21:37:00.000-05:00You can help avoid a lot of the pre-race traffic b...You can help avoid a lot of the pre-race traffic by arriving early (as in several hours early). It gives you time to browse the booths. Or have a tailgating party in the parking field. (Or read a book...)

And parking farther away from the track will help. Also, parking near a less-used exit works too.

For example, the last time we were there we came in on (and left via) FM 156 (from Hwy 380) through Denton. (You can see where it enters the speedway here: http://www.texasmotorspeedway.com/downloads/TMSinandout040105.pdf )

Still, expect that it will take a while to get out of there. You can view other parking tips here: http://www.texasmotorspeedway.com/visitorinfo.aspx?p=Parking

Regarding the wind - the higher in the stands that you sit (and the better the view), the more wind you'll get. We were sitting up pretty high, and I wasn't prepared for the wind (cold, to me).

You might also consider bringing a seat cushion or something soft to sit on.Msheepershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04881862288794981216noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22368886.post-1157076025441903852006-08-31T21:00:00.000-05:002006-08-31T21:00:00.000-05:00...and a book to read? ;o). Thanks for the advic......and a book to read? ;o). Thanks for the advice....I'm not exactly experienced in this area. Any tips for parking? When I went to the IRL it took HOURS to get out of that lot, if I park near the back of the lot close to the exit, do you think that would help at all?Christyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10158119775645725096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22368886.post-1157037527940309272006-08-31T10:18:00.000-05:002006-08-31T10:18:00.000-05:00I think after last year, we decided that to attend...I think after last year, we decided that to attend another Sunday afternoon/night race that we'd need to take Monday off. (Too hard to drive back home and go to work the next day.) So, we probably won't make it this year.

You'll have to let me know what you think about NASCAR! (At the race, it helps to have headphones and a scanner to listen to the radio/TV commentary or listen to the drivers talking. You can rent them at the track.)
Otherwise, at least for me, you're just watching cars go round and round and round...

:)

You probably already know these next things:
- If you want to buy stuff at the booths outside the track, get there early so that you can take your purchases back to the car before the race starts.
- Make sure to bring ear plugs (or buy them there).
- Most tracks will let you bring in food/drink. You'll just have to read up on how big a bag/cooler you can bring and what items are not allowed.Msheepershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04881862288794981216noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22368886.post-1156991634779830632006-08-30T21:33:00.000-05:002006-08-30T21:33:00.000-05:00That's the one, but we are just going on Sunday. ...That's the one, but we are just going on Sunday. No pressure, I was just wondering if you guys had planned on going :O). Jason just scheduled his driving school for October 15th. They get to drive the cars from last years racing teams. They sit through a class, then go out on the track with an instructor, the other people (up to twelve) in the class are with them and they can pass each other etc, and then after they drive ten laps, the instructors takes them around at top speed.....I'll keep you posted....sounds....uhhh....interesting?Christyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10158119775645725096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22368886.post-1156948623828278242006-08-30T09:37:00.000-05:002006-08-30T09:37:00.000-05:00The Silverado 350k / O'Reilly Challenge / Dickies ...The Silverado 350k / O'Reilly Challenge / Dickies 500 from
October 31 - November 5, 2006?

I don't know.
