Tooth Fairy Pillow

Here's something anyone knows about me if they have spent 3 minutes in my presence.....if you call me at 7 pm in the evening and tell me your child is, unexpectedly, going to lose their tooth by tomorrow, and you need a tooth fairy pillow.....I have all the stuff to make one laying around my house somewhere, and it'll get done.
My Twilight loving co-worker, Lauren called a few months back and the above incident transpired.  I have to admit I had not heard of tooth fairy pillows.  I immediately added this topic to the list of 'things to discuss with a therapist' because clearly I was deprived as a child.  Then I got to work.  To say these are easy to put together is an understatement....a little felt, stuffing, and a needle and you go to work.  I added a strip to the top to hang on the door.....or you can slip it next to your pillow.  I don't know who 'you' is.....I'm guessing anyone who is reading this is probably beyond the 'good' kind of tooth lose, but....
Anyway, I just cut a tooth shape out of white felt.  I stitched a little pocket to the back, and I sewed on some pink felt for the face, then added additional features.
I also added ribbon to the top on the pack, and then stitched it right sides together, with about an inch left to go, I pulled it through the gap, stuffed, and stitched the last little bit closed.
I googled pillows and found these faces on Etsy, but their tutorials included tutus and wings too.  Lauren's husband vetoed that idea for their little guys that would be using this...can't imagine why....but it's gonna happen for the  next fairy pillow I stitch together.  And my favorite part of the whole story is that the little guy lost the tooth, and the fair left him a 'ticket'....apparently what he calls money.  Love it.  I've received a few tickets in my life too, but they weren't left in cute pillows, and those stories don't make me smile....just sayin'...

  1. I was similarly delighted with the little boxes [tooth shaped] that the school gave to my children when a tooth fell out during the school day - never seen anything like that before.

  6. Oh so sad you missed out on the tooth fairy pillow. My mom made my brother and I each one. Little square pillows with a pocket in the back. I think I still have mine stashed away somewhere.
