I'm taking a bunch of wreaths to GMT today, but this is the wreath I'm taking....and then brining home to hang. Actually, they had a very similar wreath at Sam's, but....by the time I went to get it, it was gone. I hardly ever 'buy' a wreath, so you know I like it if I went to purchase instead of make the wreath. I was bummed, but then, when they asked me to come share some wreaths, I thought, hey, I can make that wreath I didn't get!
I switch my outside decor back and forth, but this year, it's back to silvers and whites, so....it goes perfectly with the rest of the decor outside.
It was 36 dollars at Sams, but I was able to make it for less than 20. I bought ornaments at the dollar tree, and a few at the craft store on major discount. I bought a little 'church' ornament for $2 something at Walmart, and some bottle brush tress (again, half off-about $3.50? at Hobby Lobby). I got a foam wreath at the dollartree, and then some tinsel. The tinsel is the only thing even remotely pricey. They have a ton of different colors, but I wanted this particular garland from Walmart, which cost about 5 dollars. Normally, I'd use a coupon at the craft store, but....it was a lot of tinsel. You need about 18 yards to wrap a dollar tree size wreath. A bigger wreath, maybe grab two of these. I hot glued it all on, and now....once it has it's television debut, I'm ready for Christmas, well, my door is ready. I've got a lot of projects left to do!

Christmas Ball Wreath

I made this wreath using only items I bought at the dollar tree. That means, it cost me exactly 7 dollars to make this wreath. Win. Second, I made this wreath via a request from one of the producers at GMT. I prerecorded the segment. I'm sharing a few other things I've done recently on my blog (one I'm posting tomorrow) Whatever day it airs (today?)....I'll link the segment to my facebook page.
I found this foam wreath and they had garlands (a dollar each).
I wrapped the 9 foot garland around the foam form and just tied it closed.
They also sold these tubes of ornaments (12 for a buck). They have multi colors, and lots of solids. I went with silver. It took me four tubes (with a few left over I'll throw on gifts/present toppers).
I glued them around the outside with hot glue.
I then glued them around the middle.
Then I started filling in the rest. I also had some small silver ones I added, but it was not necessary...I'm just trying to get rid of 'stuff.'
It doesn't get much easier than this. And...seriously, 7 bucks!

Silver Nutcrackers

I'm headed to Good Morning, Texas today. It's all about the sparkle. This is one of three projects. I'll post the third one soon. In the meantime, I'll post the video to my facebook page with today's segment. In the meantime....here is a sneakpeak. I blogged about this easy recipe for making cinnamon almonds in the crockpot a few weeks ago. I decided this would be one of the gifts I give this year for Christmas because they are fab-u-lous and easy to make. I put them inside little silver boxes and added these silver nutcrackers I made.
I found mini nutcrackers at Michael's for 1.50 and larger nutcrackers at the dollar tree. I got some silver spray....
I yanked off the beards (like the guy on the right). The guys I got for a dollar were easiest b/c they were just glued on the edges. I sprayed them with a little silver spray and they are good to go. I plan to put the larger guys with some crystal candles and clear glass ornaments on my buffet. The little nutcrackers are hitching a ride on the nuts I'm giving away to friends this year. Stay tuned, more glitter coming soon.
