There is a saying
here..."Everything's bigger in Texas." This is so true when it comes to the Texas State Fair, I don't think the 'State Fair' does it justice, you just have to see it to believe it. I absolutely love the Texas State Fair.....I love the food, the sites, and the sounds. Here is an old familiar sight I've grown up looking at, you can see it outside of the fair grounds, it's HUGE....and it's worth a trip around to go on a ferris wheel this large! As you might have guessed, this is how I spent my Saturday morning :O).

It is....if you aren't scared of hieghts, it's not fun with a brother who thinks it's funny to try to rock a cage (which is big no no anyway for them). I've been to a lot of fairs....it's worth a trip. A perk of being a teacher is I get a free ticket every year I can use at anytime.....I love the fair so much I went on the first weekend day :O) I think it's as much memories as current experience....oh the 'treasures' I used to find :O)
I've loved the State Fair (although I didn't think it was such a big deal when I was younger and got the free ticket)! I went with Mom a couple of years ago, and we had a blast.
I keep telling gad38 how great it is and how we need to go sometime.
Unfortunately, we've been out of town quite a bit the last several weeks, so I think we'll wait until next year.
