Witchy Wood

Another quarantine craft finding it's way on my blog.  This was an old piece of wood in my back yard.  I cut the corners at the top off (b/c I saw something like this on pinterest).  I painted up my witch, added a button nose, some raffia hair (just glued down) and a ribbon.  I flicked the whole thing with a toothbrush covered with white paint.   I also got a stick from my yard (I nailed it in place) and added some raffia at the bottom for her broom and a little ribbon tie.  I just hot glued the ribbon to hold and the spider (also randomly in my garage).  And now-my random piece of wood is a random witch just waiting for better days and trick or treaters.

Witches Broom Treat Bags

 I made these last year for some of the gals I work with.  These actually came from a kit via Stampin Up.  I did detail the process so I can make my own witches bags in the future, so....for me (and :you:) here are all the steps and materials the kit came with, but first....I was planning on making caramel apples to go in the bags, but when I got them they were a bit smaller than I thought, so I made a trailmix instead, my fav-candy corn and peanuts, but I also added sixlets I colored black circles on so they would look more like eye balls.

 The bag they went inside had fringe cut about 1 inch down all the way across.

 There was a second bag with the bottom cut off, and it was cut all the way down (to about an inch).  There was a strip of sticky tape that allowed you to adhere it to the first bag....

 They you put the treat inside, put a straw into it for the handle, and bunch both up and tie it shut.

...add a tag and they are good to go.

Witch Hat Pinata

 I've been wanting to making these for several years now.  I love mini pinatas.  I made these for a few friends kiddos.  Unfortunately, I have no idea where the 'beginning' pictures are, but below you can see I took a regular old dollar store party hat and cut a 'fringe' about 1/2 the way up all the way around.

 I then used glue and covered the whole hat with black fringed crepe paper.  I bought a bunch of little toys and blinking jewelry from Party City and filled the inside.

I then just took a black round circle and glued the 'fringed' part to the circle to hold it in place.  The idea is that the kiddos get to rip these bad boys open to get to a few Halloween goodies.  So simple, and really cheap.  One roll of crepe paper (50 cents) covered 8 party hats and then some.

Halloween Yard Signs

 I've been working on some new Halloween yard signs. These two guys are super simple and adorable.  I cut out a wobbly little shape and then used house paint to paint a basecoat for my ghost.  The exterior paint should help prevent the ghost from warping if there is a lot of rain this fall.  I then went back and added a few details and flecked on some black paint with toothbrush to give the white a little character.

For the witches hats I did some curvy triangles and then I could out the little hilly shape.  I bought a star at a craft store (b/c small wood is tricky to cut with a jig saw).  I used wood glue to attach it all together and then nails to reinforce the glue and add it to the stake.  I also put a coat of polycrylic over the whole thing to help give it another layer of weather proofing.

Caldron Cupcake

 I saw the idea for making little caldrons using these little salsa bowls you can get at the dollar store (2 for a buck) at dawnypoo and I decided to give it a go.  I put a cupcake I dyed green at the bottom of the bowl and added a second one with crumbs around the side to fill the bowl a little further.

 I squiggled icing and then just added a bunch of gum eyeballs and gummy 'stuff' I got in candy bins at the store.

Gummy worms and I go way back.  Easy cupcake.  No icing technique required, just put some in a ziplock and let it flow.

Witch's Brew and a Blinged Out Tutorial Too

 Last year as I was gathering ideas to do for my secret sister at work, I saw a picture where someone rewrapped soda bottles and renamed it witch's brew.  Here is the original link.  I used a free graphic from graphic fairy for the circled and typed up the brand and created my own label.  You can print that free from this link.  I used an ink pad to ink the edges.  I wanted a sparklie doodad, but I couldn't find any I liked.  I'm sure this has been done a million times, but I decided to create one using a black bat ring.  This is my easy steps.  You could leave it black, but I had silver paint, so I gave it a quick spray.

 Then I covered the top with modpodge...

 ...and I glittered it down with glitter.  If you want to prevent the glitter from flaking, when it dries, paint it again with another coat of mod podge and it will dry clear.

Halloween Cider Broomsticks

My life motto is, everything drink, dish, or fleck of dust needs an accessories.  Meet, Halloween's drink accessory, the witch's broom!I saw this idea last year at Taste of Home, and I had to try it out.  I love apple everything.  I grabbed some premade cider, and then I got to work on the brooms. 

Press and carve the broom straw out of orange slices, press them to a cinnamon stick, and then wrap a licorice string around the two meeting points.  I did add a dab of melted chocolate to the licorice to hold it all together, though I'm sure I cold have molded the orange slice to adhere all three if I had tried a little harder.  I like to leave room for improvement. 

Cats and Witch Hat Trail Mix

I whipped up some witch hat and cat trail mix as a part to a larger whole.  For the hats, I used the same technique I used on these New Year's party hats....here. For the cats I used mini oreos, and I pressed on a heart sprinkle for the nose, and two small chips for ears before it completely dried on wax paper.  I added these to caramel flavored trail mix.

Witch Hat Headband

I'm not really a witch hat kind of gal, but I saw a headband like this last year in New Orleans, and I decided to see what I could rig up.  I love these little mini hats on a band, and I've seen them all around.  I found this sequined headband last year at the after Halloween sales, and I bought some glittery felt at Hobby Lobby.  I cut out a base and a cone shape. 

 I glued the cone shut, and then stitched it (you could also glue it) to the base.  I added some feathers and rhinestones I had sitting around.  I added a little black circle flower.  The original had a blue spider web painted on the side, but this was festive enough for me. 

 I glued it to the band, and then added a strip of felt over the headband and attached to the bottom of the hat to double secure it.  This is the kind of thing I'd wear for Halloween.  I'm not really into major dressing up....fine....witches aren't my thing either, so I'll be passing this out, but I have now entered the world of tiny hats.....and I can't wait to delve deeper!

Witch's Spell Book

I bought this book for 80 cents in the clearance section of a halfprice books.  It was the biggest book for the least money.
This is not the last time I'll say that, in fact, I'll say it two more times, because three is the number of projects I used this book for over the last week or so.  I could have kept going, but I was tired of look at the book, and I went scrapbooking with my friend Amber on Friday, so I decided to do a little Halloween craft.  You can add witches to the things I don't believe in, or spells, but if you can take Halloween with a grain of salt, fine, if not....then this spell book probably isn't a good idea.  I have a little secret, inside this book aren't spells, but an autobiographical account of a certain celebrities life, which is why I decided to tie it shut, you know, in case they drop by or something, I don't want them to be offended by my use of their book.
As for the project.  There are a bunch of pages missing from the inside, but I stamped the edges with a spiderweb stamp (from the Dollar Section at Target, I borrowed it from the lady next to me).  I used double sided tape and some Halloween tape for the binding, an Xeron machine for the ribbon, a few buttons on the side with the help of zots.  The rest is pretty self explanatory, but I will say I got the little vintage picture online just by googling 'free, Vintage Halloween clipart.'  I love google.  I also love scrapbooking, but I'll get back to the rest of my projects some other day.
