Day Thirteen: Beaune, France

Wednesday, July 01, 2009

Beaune was a lunch/shopping stop along the way from Switzerland to Paris, France. It's 'another' town that still has fortress walls surrounding it (this never gets old). The town has a church with a colorfully tiled roof. There are also lots of little shops (with great little eclectic pieces), cafes overlooking the busy sidewalks, squares with fountains, and bikers, and very little traffic. Once a week (Wednesday, the same day we visited) they have a little farmer's market in one of the main squares. Locals come out to sell homemade candies, soaps, honey, vegetables, fruits, sewn goods etc.

They also had lots of wine shops, and wine 'caves.' My priorities, and focus were on purchasing sweets, and a croissant.
