I recently did a segment on cross stitch on Good Morning, Texas (airing soon) and one thing I made were these little hair clips. I found some cross stitch fabric at the craft store (JoAnne's). You can buy patterns that include the widely woven (thick) fabric to count out your stitches, but you can also buy sheets of it. These just took a few minutes to put together. I took two pieces of thread and cross stitched little hearts on each one. I used the count below for my hearts, but the key is to work up in odd numbers, so you can make them larger and smaller by adding more rows, or deleting a few.
I cut out little circles, and hot glued them onto pieces of felt. I glued those onto barrettes. It doesn't get much easier than that! I'll post the video to facebook when it airs.
