Ducky Luncheon

Friday, April 24, 2015 1 comment
Last month I threw a baby shower luncheon for my friend Nicole.  She is expecting her first little one in a week or two.  She and her husband decided to wait to find out the gender, so I hunted on her registry for a semi theme and found she had registered for some different ducky things.
I bought a little bundt cake for the occasion and found this little stand at Home Goods.  I threaded some yellow ribbon through the holes.  It made it a little more fun than the cardboard these cakes usually come on.
I blogged about these last month.  I made some lemon scented bath salts.  It's hard to bring too much when we eat at tea rooms b/c they usually have a lot of cute decorations of their own, but this was a little something I figured could fit easily on the table.
Nicole grew up in Dallas, but she has lived in Houston for 11 years.  I've been trying to change that for awhile (11 years).
I bought everything I could find off her registry that was duck related.
I'm all about personalizing gifts, but with no name and no gender, I only embroidered a few little duck things.  I told her I'd catch up on my personalizing over the next 18 years.
Nicole's sister had her first little guy just three weeks ago.  Her Mom has been waiting for this 'grandma' thing for quite awhile, so I'd say the ladies are doing a nice job giving her her grandchild fix.
I, for one, can't wait to meet the little one.  There is a lot of spoiling that's about to happen, though I figure I have to take a number.

Duck Gift

I made this little duck gift for my friend, Nicole.  I threw her a tea in celebration of her newest family member.  Gender to be revealed upon birth...so....neutral baby gifts.  She had registered for quite a few duck things and I pulled those off her list to give her, but I wanted to add a few little homemade things as well.
I've seen little jars like this, but this is my version.  I sewed a little onsie and burp clothe and found a few little goodies all mom's need, including the hot/cold bath duck.
I stuck it all inside the jar and included them with my gift.

Lemon Bath Salt

This past weekend I threw a little tea for a friend of  mine having her first little baby.  I'll post a few more details soon.  This was the little favor I put together.  I hosted it at a tea room, so decorations are a little limited since you are in the middle of everyone else's luncheon as well.
Nicole and her husband have decided not to find out their baby's gender until he or she arrives in May.  So, I went with a little duck theme.
I put together some little bath salts for each gal who attended the tea.  This are really easy...and might I add-useful favors.  At least, I think they are!  I mixed some Epsom salt and baking soda (3 parts Epsom to 1 part baking soda) and a few drops of lemon essential oil.  Depending on your oil, it should only take a few drops to infuse the scent.  I found these tiny little ducks at Party City I put in each bag, and some little yellow loofahs I attached to the back just to make the color pop a little more.  Stay tuned for 'the rest' of the details....and up next-a really fun vintage baseball bridal shower.
