Elf Gift Box

 My friend Maurine has three little boys who are obsessed with elf on the shelf.  Two out of three also have gifts right around Christmas.  Last year I decided to send a big elf themed gift for them to enjoy all Christmas season so that their birthday gifts would be a little more isolated.  I filled a big box with gifts for all three boys and sent it on its way right after Thanksgiving.

 I embroidered elf hat shirts for each boy, I put somekisses in a bag (elf kisses), I found some elf cupcake liners and decorations for them to make, a book about elves, elf hats, pencils, and plus toys (from the dollar tree), and even an elf toy for the dog.

I three in some grown your own candy canes, and edible candy canes and shipped it on it's way.  

Rated PG-13: Bachelorette Cookies

Usually I start a post with a picture, but I'm going to tell you about this post before I add a picture, and if there are kids, coworkers, husbands, whatever around, don't scroll down because this is a lingerie party cookie.  It's not THAT naughty in the grand scheme of things, and bachelorette 'stuff' is fun when you are celebrating a friend getting married.  I believe in celebrating marriage and all the fun that comes with wedding vows.  Ummm....I guess you could say these cookies were made in honor of a friend's wedding, and if you can befriend characters in books, this would be appropriate.  I made this for a party....more on that tomorrow....lower your expectations b/c when I post tomorrows post you are probably going to question my maturity, but it's cool.  I can handle it.  Now on to the cookies.  I needed some lingerie cookies for the party, and I googled.  I saw where you can make these cookies using a heart cookie cutter.  Black is the color that is important to 'my friend's' wedding trouseau.  I cut out my cookies, baked, dyed some icing black, added 2 T. of karo to 3 c. of icing, and started with black on my lingerie. 

 I added a white lacey border, and bow. 

 After the cookies dried, and the icing hardened over night, I added a piece of lace and black satin ribbon. 

Sandye's Bachelorette

It's about time for my weekly Sandye update (she won't need a blog of her own with friends like me!:O) Today was Sandye's Bachelorette, about 17 of us met up at BJ's Pizza and ate dinner, and Sandye opened lingerie. We then headed across the street to Pete's Dueling Piano Bar, Sandye was brought on stage and serenaded by one of the piano players and everyone else at the place, and later she led a little dance with other people celebrating that evening. The next Sandye related post with be her swiftly approaching wedding!
