Chalkboard Stocking Tags

Monday, December 19, 2011 No comments
After trying the chalkboard chargers, and ornament place settings (which I posted about earlier today),  I found little wooden stockings 4 for a dollar, and 50% off that at Hobby Lobby.  They have all sorts of shapes for every season.  I decided to try out a set of nap plates with these.  I used some of these for gift tags as well.
I sprayed these down with my drug of choice, chalkboard paint.
Let them dry, and then drilled a hole..or two.
Please note my very favorite body accessory, paint.
I added a ribbon, and then went to work on a guest list.  So far, it's just me.

Chalkboard Place Settings

I saw this idea for a chalkboard set up last year at Tatortots and Jello, and I had to try it out!  I'm kinda, sorta a chalkboard addict.
I have never heard of this, but apparently there is a plastic primer spray you can put down before you spray something (plastic) with paint so it sticks better.  I found my can at Hobby Lobby.
I also found these chargers at Hobby Lobby on clearance for less than a dollar a piece.
I primed.
I chalked.
I doodled.
I also snagged some plastic ornaments from the dollar sport at Target.
I marked off my area with painter's tape, and I sprayed.  Next time, I'd get the brush on chalkboard paint, or cover the whole thing (not being sprayed with newspaper b/c I don't have accurate aim with spray paint).

Add a ribbon, add a guest, and enjoy....and if you don't enjoy,  you can write a complaint to your host on the supplied surfaces.

A Simple Thanksgiving Place Card

I've seen this idea frequently around magazines, and the internet, and I decided it was time to try out a sugar cone cornicopia.  There were quite a few ways to try this out via steaming/boiling water ect.  I decided to just spray some water on the end of a sugar cone, and pop in the microwave for thirty seconds.  When I pulled it out, I gently pulled the end of the cone up towards me to create a curve.  A few didn't move right away, and need more time in the microwave.  I filled 'em with trail mix, and can add a name on each for a place setting.  As a bonus, you can also heat fortune cookies in the microwave to open them up, pull out the old fortune, and insert a new fortune before bending them closed.  I realize that this sort of info just might change your life (...or not), so I'll end there....

Thanksgiving Trail Mix Placecards

I saw this precious little milk carton printable at Frog Prince.  I'm completely in love with milk jugs, milk jars, and everything milk right now (more on this later....much later).  I died from the sheer cuteness, then my chihuahua tapped on my chest enough to resusitate me, and I got to the paper printing business.
Next came the innards.  I saw THIS cute trail mix recipe using bugels to look like baby cornocopias.  I banged my head against the wall because I want to be this clever.  I died again, but God sent me back because heavens not quite ready for me.  I don't know what He meant by that, but...thank goodness I'm here to share these cute little projects I found on the net.
I changed my recipe up a bit, but you get the basic idea-bugels=super cute and Thanksgiving-eee!
I stuffed, and got over it.
Dear Internet,
I love you.  Let's get married.
                    Love,
                           Christy
I think these would make some really cute placecards, write a name across 'em and set them by each place.  I'm not doing this, only because I couldn't want until Thanksgiving to do this, and the trail mix is now just a piece of history, but *you* could.
