Oatmeal Football Pies

 Here's a super simple idea for football treats.  My problem with football games is that they usually play them right after church on Sunday.  That doesn't leave a lot of time to do anything fun.  I saw all these ideas for adding stripes to random, already made, desserts like brownies and pies....sounds good to me!

Football: Pretzel Sugar Cookies

Pretzels....sort of a staple at any cliche football watching party...at least in my head, and that's really where the most important rules are made and followed...my head.  I saw this super cute idea for pretzel shaped cookies here.  I had to try it out.  Instead of buying the Lintzer cookie cutter (available on Amazon), I found a 'vintage' cookie cutter on sale at Etsy.  They are a big bigger. 

Add some clear karo syrup (1 T. per cuup of icing...give or take) to make the icing harden (after it sit out for a few hours) so you can bag up your cookies.  I also added some coarse sugar sprinkles to look like salt, and then bagged up my cookies in brown bags.  I know the deliver will matter to the men, oh yes, it'll be their favorite part....in my head, it's important. 

Strawberry Footballs

In honor of the upcoming superbowl, which, unfortunately doesn't include 'my' Cowboys, BUT does include my haunting grounds....and in honor of the strawberries that will be going bad in a few days if I don't do something with them....I put these little guys together.  I actually saw this idea on Etsy.  they sold all kinds of sports strawberries, and I thought it was a cute idea.  These would be really cute on a little astro turf, or green serving dish.  I only plated them long enough to take a picture, and then I did what I do best....eat them. 

I just used 'normal' chocolate chips, melted them down 30 seconds at time, stirring in between (it took about 80 seconds), dipped, and once it they dried on wax paper, I piped on my laces using icing, but white chocolate would work too.  This could be neater, but that's what the actual superbowl is for, right? Room to improve.
