Planner Band

Monday, July 20, 2015 1 comment
I've become obsessed with my new plum paper planner.  I'm only two weeks in and I know I've watched a lot of videos others have done as they plan their week.  I do not have room for all the adorable stickers others use..I tried to go sort of theme-ish each week, but really-I want to use it for my daily to do list.  I spent most of my time just rewriting the list on the next day, but...whatever....every once in awhile something gets done.  I also spent way too much money buying cute stickers on etsy for my planner...only to discover I need more cute stickers....
One thing I did get check off my to do list was to make this little flower book mark for my planner.  A lot of the people I've seen planning have these to hold the place of their week so you can open your planner to the exact right page.
Instead of spending a lot of money on one little band, I spent a little money and bought my own elastic bands, bows, and flowers for less than a dollar each on etsy.
I had this for about a month b/c I didn't feel like pulling out my sewing machine.  I put it on my weekly plan so I couldn't put it off any more...
I still was too lazy to pull out my machine, so I pulled out my inner Little House on the Prairie.  I sewed it by hand...novel, I know.  I sewed the elastic together and then sewed two flowers onto the bland to cover the seam.  This month, my book mark matches my planner, but I can dress her up for future holidays now.  This is something I may do for my everyday spirals as well....but first....I've got a few other things to get checked off my to do list.

DIY Planner Stickers

I recently bought a Plum Paper Planner.  It started July 1st.  I'm obsessed.  It combines my love of to do list and stickers and nothing beats organization like being able to bedazzle your week!  I promptly started buying little calendar stickers....and soon spent more than the price of the planner on the stickers!  I've come up with several ways to make my own stickers to save some money...here is way number one.
I bought some address labels and I just used my clipart from Word to find some cute little stickers-pencils (seen above), pineapples (to mark off the days of an upcoming trip), weights (for workouts), and I googled 'free bunting clipart' and found a ton of options.  I've been cutting them out to mark of birthdays etc.....and.....saved tons of money.  I've done this same sort of thing to make my own address labels in the past as well.  They also sell blank full sheets of sticky labels (originally meant for mailing) at office supply stories if you don't want to be limited by the label size.

Printing on Post It Notes

I can't see a blank page in a planner and be OK with it.  I'm working on those issues, but in the meantime...
I recently got a Plum Paper Planner (I get nothing for letting you know about my new toy, I only wish I did).  There is a page at the beginning of each month called 'notes.'  I haven't totally decided how I want to use it, but....I see a lot of folks using pages like this for 'dash boards.'  I decided to do the same, but to create some post it's I can move around.
I posted a video for how I made my personalized list here.

I also have a free printable if you want these same choices here.
I keep an ongoing list of meals I want to try, books I want to read (that are coming out that month), things I need to get at the craft store etc, and a grocery list (not to be confused with the shopping list b/c crafts take up a whole different part of my checkbook).

Plum Perfect Planner ING

The new verb in my life is planner.  My friend, Tammy got a planner for Christmas and has been youtubing her planning adventures.  These plum paper planners are somewhere between a calendar, to do list, scrapbook, and diary. This happens to be right up my alley.
I've been pretty terrible about all of the above lately...minus the to do list.  I make to do list daily-truly, and carry one in my purse.  I lost it for a day this past year and thought I might need a straight jacket.  I shouldn't be able to lose this big girl.  I'm sure you will hear more about it.  If you don't know about the world of planning....it's me and you both.  Here is my video alllll about my new obsession.

I also made some free printables if you beat me to the obsession.  You can download them here.
I get nothing for saying this....I just really love a good planner.  I wish I got lots of freebies so....hook a girl up!
