Hop on Pop Trail Mix Mobile

 Last year my teammate and I loaded up a cart for the teachers and walked through the halls so they could fill up a little box (cat hat) of trail mix inspired by Dr. Seuss books (we try to celebrate his birthday, March 2nd) with something fun-the year before we carted around a cotton candy machine and had teachers make Thing 1 and 2 cotton candy).
We had brainstormed months before-so we had snagged some green and red M&M's for Grinch Pills, Peanuts for Horton, Goldfish for One Fish, Two Fish, Pretzels for The Lorax (tree trunks), and Popcorn for Hop on Pop, and hats (boxes from Oriental Trading) for The Cat in the Hat.

Dr. Seuss Thing 1 and 2 Cotton Candy

 Last year at work we decided to celebrate Dr. Seuss day by breaking out my cotton candy machine.  My teammate and I traveled the halls and let the teachers make blue cotton candy cones in honor of Thing 1 and 2. 

Here is one money saving tip.  We only needed about 50 cones.  We found some blue cotton candy at a restaurant supply store (this machine, which I bought at Kohl's, will also make candy from hard candies, so you could use blue candy instead), but when you buy the cones, you buy them by the hundreds, and so....I rolled construction paper instead. 

 I tapped it shut, and covered my tape....

With a tag.  These held really well, and I like the idea of being able to use more colorful paper to jazz up the cones.  I also like the price!

Thing 1 Thing 2 Dr. Seuss No Sew Book Bags

I made these book bags about a year and  a half ago.

...which launched me into a portion of my life that I like to refer to as, 'Everybody I know is getting a book bag for any and every holiday I can invent....' 
     After making approximately 4,325 book bags, which propelled me into an extensive 12 step program....I'm baaaaaack to making book bags.  Oh well, I never was good at riding in 12 step wagons. 
     This time I brought out my paints and bags for a segment running today on Good Morning, Texas in honor of Dr. Seuss' upcoming birthday festivities. 
Here is the original link with step by steps, sources etc for making these no sew bags.  I followed all of these easy steps, and just changed it around a bit to make them Seuss themed. 
    I have more fun activities planned in  honor of his birthday, it's the educator in me.  I'll  eventually post some of those projects later, but in the meantime, how about a book bag to store an extensive Seuss book collections?
      Now I just need to start making friends so I can continue to make book bags....I forgot how easy...and fun this project was...
