Yolanda's Bridal Tea

Friday, November 13, 2015 No comments
On Halloween, I helped host a shower for my friend Yolanda.  There were four of us on the committee and the other gals had a ton of great items for hosting a tea.  Yolanda loves her teas...in particular, teas at the Ritz.
One of the host had all these tea cups and tea pots.  How gorgeous?  The guest list included 70 invites and about 34 yes responses.  Most of these cups and punch glasses got used.
 Tea selection.
We each tried to bring 'tea like dishes.
Scones, a variety of jams, and clotted cream (bought from the store....yikes to the directions that goes into producing this little dollop of goodness).
 Petite Fours....my favorite.
 Gifts.
Fun side note, one of the gals hosting had seen this 'game' where you wrap a bag of dates, kisses, and bottle of shout  You place them among the gifts and when the bride unwraps them, they have to tell about their first date, first kiss, and their first fight.  Games make me cringe, but this one was just right for a group of host that decided we did NOT want to do any games, but we did want to make it a little personal.  Tonight is the rehearsal, tomorrow is the wedding.  I can't wait to see what life brings next.

Baseball Bridal Shower

Recently my friend Sonia and I hosted a shower for our friend, Mary's daughter.  She met her fiance at a Ranger's game...and it's been a huge part of their relationship.  It just so happened to fall on Opening Week, and the bridal party had planned the bachelorette party for the next day....at the Ranger's game.  I'll pretend that timing was all part of the deal.
I found some adorable ticket invites online and had my friend Kelly help me make it happen.
I found a 'vintage style' cracker jack tin on ebay and purchased that to put some flowers in for the shower.
I put together some baseballs to be signed by the guest party with advice...or rather, 'the game plan' for a happy marriage.
I found some bottled cokes (at Costco) and tied on one of my current favorite things-paper straws.
I have a collection of random glass containers from other events I filled with baseballs, peanuts, Babe Ruths, gum etc.  I borrowed all the baseballs from my only mail coworker....bet he didn't see that coming, but...he used to play and had a ton in his garage.
Laura is not a fan of ice cream or cupcakes, so....we went with cookies and a yogurt bar for dessert.
We also threw in some wine for those that aren't into cokes and water.
I made baseball and glove shaped sugar cookies.
I also found these mini helmets on the magical world of Amazon.  This was for the yogurt.
I also found vintage style cracker jacks online and added little tags....b/c everything is better with raffia and bling.
My friend Mary makes quilts for all her children, this was one of her gifts to the bride and groom.
The bridesmaids also passed out shirts they were going to be using the next day at the bachelorette party-My last swing before the ring.  How cute is that?  Laura got white, all the bridesmaids got red.

Baseball Shower Favors

I recently helped host a bridal shower for one of my good friend's daughters.  I'll be posting all the details soon.  She met the groom at a Ranger's game and is an avid Ranger's fan...we kept that in mind while planning.
I found these adorable vintage style cracker jack boxes on Amazon-they cost less than a buck each when you buy them as packs of 24.  I added a sports tag and some tickets.  As a teacher...I hit up some of my nearby teacher friends so that I could get the right colors.  I found a baseball stamp and stamped it in the middle of the blue ticket (loved these blank tickets from US Toys).  Sooooo much easier than my original plan!  All the details coming soon!

Baseball Initial

I helped host a bridal shower for my friend Mary's daughter a week ago.  Her daughter is less traditional as far as petite fours and dinner mints go, so we went with a baseball theme.  She meat her husband-to-be at a baseball game, and her bridesmaids even took her to a game for her bachelorette the same weekend as her shower.  I put together this little sign to prop up on the table.
I bought a big wooden A at the craft store and just painted red laces down each side.  I used a permanent marker to add some details and gray paint to add some character.  When I was finished there was just something missing, so I took a tooth brush and flicked black paint all over it.  I find this usually helps make everything look better...with the exception of clothing maybe.
I added a wire an a ribbon so she can hang it later on her new home...or not, but....it served it's purpose for the shower.  :O)  More details to come soon!
