Christmas Garlands

 I made a few garlands to go with some white trees in my room.

 I cut out the word MERRY with my Cricut and then sandwiched the letters and scrap paper between some twine.

 Next, I tied some little bottle brush trees to string.  I saw these on Target, but they were sold out at my Target, so I bought mine on Amazon.

 The ten pack of trees as 6 dollars, so it ended up being half the price to make my own.

I'm all about layered garlands these days.  My pom poms are from Hobby Lobby.  You could easily make that too, but....I'm OK with some store bought pieces for the collection.

Elf Garland

 I have this white tree, and I decorated in with a ton of vintage Santa ornaments the first year I had it.  Last year, I adorned it with angels, and this year I'm all about the elf....and then I'll start over again next year.  I was trying to decide what garland I wanted to add to the elf tree this year.  Most of my ornaments are green and red.

 I found these little wrapped gifts at Hobby Lobby for 2.99 and 40% off.  I bought 3 packages and used just the red, green, and silver.  I also used some twine.  Originally I thought I'd need to make the holes with this scrapbook poker, but it turns out the embroidery needle I used did the job easily b/c it's a really flimsy shiny paper, and a Styrofoam square.

I did do it towards the top so they wouldn't be spinning around, and I tied a knot once I had it in place to both sides to keep them from sliding around.  I'll be back later with my elves!

Fabric Garland

 Last year I made a series of garlands for Good Morning, Texas, but I didn't have enough time to post them all before Christmas.  This was one I put together using some old scraps I cut up into 1 inch by 8 inch pieces and a strand of lights from the dollar store.

I just tied one knot in each piece of fabric along the strand of lights until it was filled up.  I actually used it for Valentine's as well.  Not too shabby for a buck!

Dollar Store Ornament Garland

I made this last year for Good Morning, Texas.  I made a loop on each end so it can hang in a swag, but I was lazy and had it lay across the top of my buffet, which was just as pretty....maybe this year she'll make the wall.  .  

 I bought some ornaments at the Dollar Tree. They sell them in all shapes and sizes.  I took about 5 tubes per swag, and I made each swag separate so it wasn't too heavy.  These ornaments are really light, so it's not too heavy, but still.

 I took some wire and twisted the end so I had a loop for hanging.

I also twisted on the first ornament next to that loop and then I just started dropped ornaments down my wire varying the colors until I had this...

I twisted off the other end and now it's ready to hang.  Not too shabby for 5 bucks.

Bunny Garland

 I saw something like this on pinterest and I had to try it out.  I've been really into little yarn fuzzies lately.  On one side of my yarn balls I added ears with little pink insides.

 On the backside I added little cotton pompoms for tails.

 They can hang either way.

To make my yarn puffs I just looped a bunch of yarn around four fingers about twenty times.  The more you loop, the bigger your puff.  Use fewer fingers when looping to make smaller bunnies.  Lab puppies are optional.  

 I tied the middle and then cut the loops and started 'fluffing.'

 I left the yarn I used to tie the middle long until I tied it onto my twine.  That's when I trimmed it off.

I cut out little pieces of felt and glued those and the pompoms to the white puffs after I had tied them to the twine to make sure I got them in the right place.  

Felted Heart Banner

 I became obsessed with felting these days.  I bought some packets of flt at a local dollar (50) store, but you can also find them at any craft store.

 I took out bundled....

 Unfolded and divided them into two pieces.

 I then spread apart the fibers.

 Next I folded one.

 I took the second piece and folded it around the first piece the opposite direction.

 I bought a felting needled (a special needed with barbs-again they sell them at craft stores) and I saved some Styrofoam (not necessary, but it prevents me from stabbing myself!)

 I started by stabbing the middle a bunch of times to create the v.

 It will look like this after about 30 stabs.

 Then I took the needled and started stabbing it around the sides.

 You just poke it to form the shape.  When it starts to get firm you can then thread it onto string.  I tied a knot, took some rubber cloves to 'pull' it through the hearts (it helps with grip).

Once I threaded the heart I tied a knot on the opposite side and then repeated until they were all strung off.

Mason Jar Lid Peppermint Garland

 I recently did a fall craft recently using the rims of old mason jar lids...which left me with the lids.

 I decided to paint them and make them looking like peppermints.

 I glued them back to back on twine.

 I used old cellophane from a gift (I knew those hoarding tendencies would come in handy) and tied each side with twine to complete my peppermint look!

I created a string of seven of these little guys.  They hang flat against a wall, but do like to spin some when dangling, thus the two sided approach.  

Rag Garland

 I made this rag wreath for an upcoming baby shower...I had a left over pink sheet from another project and I cut it into 8 inch pieces using my pinking sheers.  I ended up going and buy 1/3 yard of 4 different fabrics and doing the same.

 Don't be fooled by my helpers peaceful nap....it probably lasted all of .2 seconds before she was running around the house with 14 pieces of fabric in her mouth, but....hey, look, it's my puppy whose not quite much of a puppy after a summer of growing.  Anyway...for the wreath...
I took some clothes lines and I literally just tied all the fabric onto the line.

I'm actually helping to host two showers for this friend and I think this is going to make an appearance at both!  Cowgirl and Ballet...and I'm sure plenty more after that.
